Olgas Restaurant background and history

In 1970, Olga Loizon established Olga’s Kitchen in Birmingham, Michigan. Using a souvlaki meat machine her uncle bought, she developed recipes in her basement. As a family, she returned to the Mediterranean to reconnect with her Greek heritage in the mid-1960s. After tasting souvlaki in the local market square, Olga decided to create her own. As a result of societal norms, she encountered challenges acquiring an authentic vertical rotisserie. In recognition of Greek culinary traditions, an iconic Michigan brand was created.
