El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant is named after someone from Guadalajara, Mexico. It serves authentic Mexican cuisine with a rich history. Efren Guitron, from Cuautla, Jalisco, moved to Seattle in 1970. He worked at a relative’s Mexican restaurant and later opened his own in Portland, Oregon. Efren’s dedication to traditional recipes quickly won over customers. His restaurant, El Tapatio, succeeded. In 1995, Hector and Estela Alcazar embraced their Jalisco heritage. They opened several restaurants in Oregon and California. Their commitment to family and authentic flavors helped their success.
Cafe El Tapatio became known for its flavorful dishes in the 1980s and 1990s. In Sedalia, the Perez family started El Tapatio after immigrating from Jalisco in 1995. The restaurant celebrates Cinco de Mayo with Mexican folklore dancing. Tapatio hot sauce, with a 3,000 Scoville rating, is a signature item. El Tapatio is built on Michoacán pride. True Mexican hospitality is at the core of the restaurant’s mission. Efren worked tirelessly at the first El Tapatio, often alone for five years. Hector and Estela expanded their restaurants to Oregon and California.
Restaurants became hubs for community, family, and heritage. Mexican art decorates the locations, creating a festive atmosphere. El Tapatio prides itself on generous portions, quality food, and excellent service. It’s a celebration of Mexican tradition and community. Hector and Estela invite you to experience Mexico’s authentic flavors. ¡Bienvenidos a El Tapatio!
