It opened its first restaurant in Eastbourne in 2003. In June 2012, the chain had expanded to Bristol, Coventry, and Wolverhampton. With 800 seats, it became Britain’s biggest restaurant in 2011. Reading, Aberdeen, Manchester, and Belfast opened by July 2012. A CGA Peach Brand Track Survey in 2015 ranked Cosmo third for “Customer Satisfaction” and second for “Value for Money.”
