Grinders Restaurant Background and history

It was opened by the Forchuk brothers and Dennis Hedberg on August 26, 1973. On September 27, 1973, the American Theatre Organ Society reopened the facility to the general public. The restaurant’s central location made it a success, averaging $8,000 per night. The Denver location was closed in 1979 due to financial difficulties and issues. Hedberg was the sole owner by April 1985. While the restaurant enjoyed a successful start, external factors contributed to its decline.

Its iconic organ was sold for parts after the Organ Grinder closed in 1996. His Wurlitzer pipe organ features unique sounds and effects, making it the largest in the world. Silent films and a monkey act were also featured at the restaurant. The building now houses the Chinese buffet “Super King.”
