Buona Restaurant background and history
It was opened in 1981 by Joe Buonavolanto Sr. and his wife, Peggy. Their children, Joanne, Carlo, John, Jimmy, Don, and Joe Jr., were with them. As a family-owned business, Joe and Peggy wanted to provide for future generations. A $10,000 second mortgage on their home helped them achieve this dream. A half-mile walk brought them to the restaurant. A classic Chicago Italian beef sandwich was to be elevated. Their special recipe was created using fresh, all-natural ingredients. All customers are welcome at the restaurant.
As a community favorite, the restaurant was built and shaped by its children from the start. Beef expanded into multiple locations over time. Family dedication and diligence made the business thrive. The company continues to focus on quality, family values, and delicious food. Joe and Peggy’s vision from 1981 still holds true today.
