Description

A fast and flavorful dish, this Quick Beef Stir Fry combines tender beef strips with colorful vegetables in a rich savory sauce. Ready in 20 minutes, it’s perfect for busy weeknights and pairs beautifully with rice or noodles.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Stir Fry:

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

  • 2 cups broccoli florets

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 carrot, julienned

  • 3 green onions, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

For the Sauce:

  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce

  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  • ¼ cup beef broth or water

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin, brown sugar, cornstarch, broth, and sesame oil. Set aside.

  2. Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add beef slices in batches, searing for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.

  3. Stir Fry Vegetables: In the same pan, add remaining oil. Stir fry broccoli, bell pepper, and carrots for 3–4 minutes until crisp-tender. Add garlic, ginger, and green onions; cook for 1 minute.

  4. Combine & Sauce: Return beef to the pan. Pour sauce over and stir until everything is well-coated and sauce thickens (about 2 minutes).

  5. Serve: Remove from heat and serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

Make Ahead: Slice beef and chop veggies in advance for faster cooking. Sauce can also be mixed ahead and refrigerated for up to 2 days.

Variations: Add snap peas, mushrooms, or baby corn for extra crunch. Swap beef for chicken, pork, or tofu.

Serving Suggestions: Best served over jasmine rice, brown rice, or stir-fry noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds or chili flakes for added flavor.

Storage Tips: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet for best texture.
