Ingredients

2 pounds (900g) potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet), peeled and cubed 
- 
4 cloves garlic, peeled 
- 
½ cup unsalted butter, softened 
- 
½ cup milk (warm, more if needed) 
- 
¼ cup sour cream (optional, for creaminess) 
- 
Salt, to taste 
- 
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Fresh chives or parsley, for garnish (optional) 
Instructions
1. Boil Potatoes & Garlic:
Place potatoes and garlic cloves in a large pot, cover with cold water, and add salt. Bring to a boil and cook for 15–20 minutes, until potatoes are fork-tender.
2. Drain & Mash:
Drain well and return potatoes and garlic to the pot. Mash until smooth.
3. Add Creaminess:
Mix in butter, warm milk, and sour cream (if using). Stir until creamy and fluffy. Adjust with extra milk if needed.
4. Season & Serve:
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve warm.

Make Ahead: Prepare up to 2 days in advance. Reheat on the stovetop with a splash of milk to restore creaminess.
