Description

These Crispy Baked Mozzarella Sticks are crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside. A healthier twist on a classic appetizer, they’re easy to make, kid-friendly, and perfect for parties or game-day snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs, beaten

  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs

  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs (for extra crunch)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • Cooking spray or olive oil

Instructions

1. Prepare Cheese:
Cut mozzarella sticks in half to make 24 pieces. Place in the freezer for at least 1 hour until firm.

2. Set Up Breading Station:
Place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and mix breadcrumbs, panko, garlic powder, Italian herbs, and salt in a third bowl.

3. Bread the Sticks:
Dip each cheese stick in flour, then egg, then breadcrumb mixture. For extra crispiness, repeat egg and breadcrumb coating.

4. Bake:
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly coat with cooking spray. Arrange breaded sticks in a single layer and spray tops lightly with oil. Bake 10–12 minutes, until golden and crispy.

5. Serve:
Enjoy immediately with marinara sauce or ranch dressing.

Notes

Make Ahead: Bread the mozzarella sticks, then freeze before baking. Store up to 1 month and bake straight from frozen.

Variations: Add paprika or cayenne to breadcrumbs for a spicy version. Use whole wheat breadcrumbs for a healthier twist.

Serving Suggestions: Serve with marinara, garlic aioli, or spicy sriracha mayo for dipping.

Storage Tips: Best eaten fresh. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days, then reheat in the oven or air fryer.
