Penn Station background and history
“Jeffrey’s Delicatessen” was opened in the Dayton Mall by Jeff Osterfeld in 1983. The experience instilled in him a sense of ownership that defines Its, Inc. His interest in cheesesteaks was sparked by a trip to Philadelphia. Customer demand for the sandwich quickly grew. Jeff opened the first Penn Station® Restaurant in downtown Cincinnati in 1985, serving fresh-cut fries, hand-squeezed lemonade, and four sandwiches. They enjoyed watching their meals being prepared with organic ingredients. As a result of Jeff’s vision, a franchise model was developed in 1988.
In 14 states, over 320 locations have been opened since then. Hand-squeezed lemonade is available at Penn Station, as well as grilled submarine sandwiches and fresh-cut fries. We make our sandwiches on-site from hearth-baked bread, USDA Choice Steak, and the freshest ingredients.
