City Barbeque background and history
Rick Malir founded City Barbeque in Columbus, Ohio, in 1999. Based in Dublin, Ohio, the company operates over 70 locations in eight states. Growing up on a farm in Kansas, Rick believes that we should always try to live uncomfortably and to always enjoy the journey. The goal when it opened was to serve the best barbecue in town. In time, the mission expanded beyond delicious food to create happiness. It reflects the tradition of Kansas City BBQ. Henry Perry first cooked outside in Kansas City in the 1920s. Bryant, Gates, and Fiorella helped shape the city’s BBQ culture. Through the Kansas City Barbeque Society, Kansas City has over 100 BBQ restaurants.
In addition to brisket, pulled pork, chicken, sausage, and turkey, City Barbeque serves smoked meats. Mac and cheese, baked beans, and coleslaw are also on the menu. The meat is slow-smoked to perfection, and their sauces are made in-house.
In addition to meats such as pulled pork, smoked chicken, and brisket, City Barbeque also offers gluten-free sides like coleslaw and baked potatoes. If you have any dietary restrictions, it is recommended that you inform the staff due to the shared cooking environment.
Countless events such as family gatherings, corporate functions, and parties are catered by City Barbeque. The catering menu includes BBQ platters, sandwiches, sides, and desserts. For larger groups, you can contact your local City Barbeque or order catering online.
There are City Barbeque locations in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, North Carolina, and more. For current locations, visit their website.
The slow-smoked barbecue at City Barbeque is known for its flavor and quality. Their smoked meat selection includes brisket, pulled pork, ribs, sausage, and chicken. Mac & cheese and cornbread are also fan favorites.
That’s right! A large smoker runs 24/7 at City Barbeque, ensuring fresh, high-quality barbecue smoked from hickory wood sourced locally.
Yes, many City Barbeque locations partner with third-party services like Uber Eats and DoorDash to offer delivery options. You can also place orders online for pickup at participating locations.
City Barbeque serves a variety of smoked meats, including brisket, pulled pork, ribs (baby back and spare ribs), smoked chicken, sausage, and occasionally, turkey or other specialty items. Their meats are all smoked for several hours over wood to create that signature smoky flavor.
